When I first started as a summer intern with Harris Financial Advisors (HFA) in June 2016, I had no idea what to expect. I didn’t know what a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) was, how to approach the management of a client’s wealth, or any part of the intricate operational process that provides the backbone for everything we do to best serve the client.
After ten weeks here, I have grown tremendously as a person and now possess a wealth of knowledge about the investment advisory industry, from asset allocation and SEP-IRAs to 529 College Savings Plans. This summer internship has provided me with an additional understanding of the advisory industry, and has significantly grown my desire to join the industry after college. The staff has been more than welcoming and helpful to me, as they handle day-to-day business in an effective, professional manner.
I am approaching my third year at UCLA as an Economics major, and I can truthfully say that my time here over the past ten weeks has been equally, if not more valuable than my first two years at school. Interning at HFA has been highly conducive to the expansion of my professional vocabulary, and time spent with each advisor has granted me profound insight into the inner workings of the firm. I am immensely grateful for my time here and have nothing but positive thoughts about my experiences.
